OIL'S ENERGY:
Oil or petroleum is a naturally ocurring yellowish-black liquid found in the beneath of the Earth's surface. Oil can be refined into fuel. It is a fossil fuel, this means that it has been created by the descomposition of organic matter over millions of years.
IS OIL A PRIMARY OR A SECUNDARY ENERGY?
Oil is a primary energy, this means that oil is an energy found in nature that has not been subjected to any human engineered conversion procisess.
IS OIL A RENEWABLE OR A NOT RENEWABLE ENERGY? IS IT A TRADITIONAL OR ALTERNATIVE ENERGY??
Oil is a not renewable energy, that means that oil, is an energy sorce founded in non-natural companies in limited quantities, in which, once consumed in its entirety, it cannot be easily replaced, since there is no economically viable production or extraction system.
And it's a traditional energy, this means that oil is an energy widely used and cover most of the needs of a country like gas or coal.
THE ADVANTATGES AND THE PROBLEMS OF OIL:
The advantages:
-Oil has High Energy Density:
You can use a small amount of natural gas to generate an enormous amount of energy that is necessary for running of machines.
-Oil is Easily Available:
Oil is readily available in almost all parts of the world.
-Oil is Used in a Variety of Industries:
Oil is used in almost all industries. You cannot easily find any other product that has massive use in virtually any kind of industry than oil energy.
The Problems:
- The Emission of Greenhouse Gasses:
This has been the biggest threat to using oil energy. After combustion, oil releases gases such as carbon dioxide and other greenhouse emissions.
- Water Pollution:
You probably have heard about the BP oil spill that massively destroyed aquatic animals. This leads to spills, and they are destructive to aquatic life.
- Oil Refining Produces Highly Toxic Substances:
Oil is primarily a mixture of various hydrocarbons. These hydrocarbons have to be refined first. During this process, various toxic gases such as carbon monoxide and solids such as plastic are emitted.
